In 2008 an estimated 27 million people were enslaved. Statistics tell us that by the year 2010 Human Trafficking will be the #1 crime worldwide. Human Trafficking is one of the largest smuggling businesses in the world. Women and children are the majority of those smuggled; and the average age of those taken are between the age of 12 and 14.
When I first heard these stats my first thought was, "That might have been several years ago, but not in today's world." Was I totally wrong! I mentioned it to my husband and he couldn't believer the statistics either. Our family took a vacation to some islands in December of 2008 and my oldest son did not let his sister's out of his sight. I thought that was a little over protective, but apparantly not. Recently we went to see the movie "Taken" and it made us think twice about our teenage daughter's safety.

     Dream Home -
Dream House in Florida. Dream House is the home that is reaching out to young women and the first of it's kind here in the states for human trafficking. It's located in Clairmont City, Florida - just outside Orlando.
The dream of Dream Home is to allow girls who were victims to live in a safe environment where they can "dream again." Healing from anxiety, depression, inappropriate guilt, and emotional numbness can take up to a year. The ministry is wanting to add more homes across the United States and the one in Florida is the first one.
